The Electric Energy and Natural Gas Market Operator Society "OPCOM" S.A. fulfills the role of administrator of the electricity market, providing an organized, viable and efficient framework for carrying out commercial transactions in the wholesale electricity market and carries out centralized market administration activities in the natural gas sector, under conditions of consistency, fairness and objectivity, independence, equality, transparency and non-discrimination.
It is the transmission and system operator in Romania, with a key role in the Romanian electricity market. It administers and operates the electric transport system and ensures the exchange of electricity between the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, as a member of ENTSO-E (European Network of Transport and System Operators for Electric Energy). It is responsible for the transport of electricity, the functioning of the system and the market, ensuring the safety of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN). It also represents the main link between demand and supply of electricity, permanently balancing energy production with demand.
The National Regulatory Authority in the field of Energy - ANRE, is an autonomous administrative authority, with legal personality, under parliamentary control, fully financed from its own revenues, decision-making, organizational and functional independent, having as its object of activity the development, approval and monitoring of the application of the set of regulations mandatory at the national level necessary for the operation of the sector and the electricity, heat and natural gas market in terms of efficiency, competition, transparency and consumer protection.
"TRANSGAZ" S.A. is the technical operator of the National Natural Gas Transport System (NTS) and ensures the fulfillment in conditions of efficiency, transparency, safety, non-discriminatory access and competitiveness of the national strategy regarding the domestic and international transport of natural gas, natural gas dispatching, as well as research and design in the specific field of its activity, in compliance with the requirements of European and national legislation, quality standards, performance, environment and sustainable development.
